Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan

Zhaan (played by Virginia Hey) is the matronly keeper of peace aboard Moya. She is a Delvian, a race of people evolved from plants, who possess limited psychic abilities, including the ability to absorb a beings pain into themselves. Zhaan is a priest of the Delvian religion, a ninth-level Pa'u. She is very spiritual, calm, and compassionate, often solving disputes between crewmembers with logic and reason. Nonetheless, Zhaan has a troubled past, and she was imprisoned on Moya for the crime of murder, though she has dedicated the rest of her life to repentance. She abhors violence, though she sees it as a necessary means to the solution of problems, and she prefers peaceful solutions to conflict. She is a skilled chemist, in fields of both medicine and demolitions, and she can whip up just about any compound needed in a matter of arns (hours). Zhaan is dedicated to Moya, who she is capable of communicating with, and she is Moya's protector, refusing to allow the ship to become endangered. Zhaan acts as counsel for the entire crew, and loves them all like family, even Rygel, though sometimes she can become frustrated with them.
