Tech and Terminology

This is a clip that shows just about every curse used in Farscape.  It's actually from Stargate SG-1 though, so don't get confused or anything. You see, in order to avoid the horrendous amount of censorship Farscape would have endured by having its characters curse all the time, and since the creators thought that a show geared so much towards adults would be lame without cursing, they invented fake swears, such as hezmana (hell). They went all the way with this and started converting measurement and time to universal ones. For example:

A second is a microt
A minute is a micron
An hour is an arn
A solar day is about a day
A cycle is a year
A metra is a kilometre
A motra is a metre

and so on.  In fact here's a neat link:
http://www.theshadowdepository.co.uk/rpg/fudge/farscape/f-fs_lexicon.htm
That site has every one, including the slang, most of which I'm not allowed to reproduce on this site (shh)

In addition to the neat terms, Farscape also has a huge number of cool space thingys. I'm gonna talk about two of them (my favourites!)

Translator Microbes
Translator Microbes are microscopic creatures that nest in the base of the brain stem and allow people of all different races to comprehend almost every language that can be spoken (not Pilot or Leviathan, though). Translator Microbes are almost always injected at birth, though Moya's DRDs (droids basically) and presumably other devices are capable of injecting them. Translator Microbes only allow a person to comprehend a language, not speak it, so essentially what is happening in the show is that as Crichton's brain translates words, and it finds there's no english equivalent, it invents one. TMs aren't a perfect system, but they work well enough that almost all peoples in the known universe are capable of conversing.

Space Pistols (Peacekeeper Pulse Pistols)

The Peacekeeper Pulse Pistol is the most prominent weapon in the show. It is used more than any other weapon, mostly because half the time Crichton or Aeryn are on-screen, they have their weapons drawn. As opposed to conventional ammunition, the Pulse Pistol fires pulse rounds made of Chakan Oil distilled from a plant that looks like a turnip. A full clip of Chakan Oil generally holds around 500 rounds, give or take a few rounds. It has a pressure trigger located where the trigger on a normal pistol would be, and it is somewhat more sensitive than an earth pistol. At its lowest setting, the Pulse Pistol fires a shot capable of knocking someone unconscious, and at its maximum setting, it is as powerful as a small explosive device. It is easily the most powerful handgun in the known universe, and is an exceptionally useful weapon.
