Inclusive Classrooms

Welcome to diversity. This section of my webpage is a part of my course work for Educ 435, "Inclusive Classrooms".

The multitudes of needs, the diversity of learning styles, and social situations of students need to be included in the philosophy and pedagogy employed by teachers. On this page, you may find a quick reference guide to the inclusion and education of exceptional children.

The British Columbia standards and guides on special education can be through the following website:

Please use the links to right to navigate to the category you wish to browse. These links are based upon the BC Ministry of Education "Special Needs Categories".

Rationale

I have found that the plethora of information contained on the internet is invaluable for the purposes of a general teacher. The list of exceptionalities on the right does not exhaust the possibilities, but allow for quick information and links for further study. In this format, one can attain some information regarding the needs of a student and the strategies suggested as by the Ministry.

As much of the information is already present on the internet, I hoped to make this site as a synthesis of that data and to present it in a form that is convenient and accessible. The written part of each document is ad verbatim from the document above (I found no need to rewrite or paraphrase this well written document).

I hope readers enjoy perusing through the links and that they find the information beneficial in their career.
