Williams Lake and Surrounding Areas

Williams Lake is a logging town. This town strives on the logging industry because of the large amounts of forest all around the town. There are approximately four or five mills that are just for forest products alone. Some of these mills include West Fraser Mill, Jackpine Mill, Tolko Mill and a few others.

Williams Lake does cater to the construction companies. A few that are popular in town include Petersons Contracting and Lake Excavating Ltd. Petersons Cont. has redone the main road in Williams Lake, Mackenzie Ave, and they also run the dump and many of the truck loads of gravel around town. Lake Ex. built the new Wal-Mart building during 2009, which was a large project that created many new jobs for people living in Williams Lake.

Mount Polley and Gibraltar Mines give jobs to over a thousand people combined. They are a big part of the careers in Williams Lake. Many people with all sorts of experience can work at these Mines. There is also a new mine called Prosperity Mine that is going to be going under way next year. Prosperity Mine is going to be located about two hours west of Williams Lake.
