My General Background![]() I am providing my background so that any person trying to analyze my gaming preferences has some sort of profile to work with. Every time I visit any website, I wonder about the person or people behind it, how they imagined the visitors of the site and what they intend for the visitor to take with them. Because of this view, I feel compelled to provide a character profile (of what I think I am) so that visitors to this site can try to extrapolate my meanings behind my words and designs. I won’t outright say them, though; what is the point of visiting a website like this if you don’t use a little imagination and have a little fun? I won’t provide a personal profile with things like age or family because that seems irrelevant to me when considering video games (and I am very paranoid about that kind of information). Anyways, I am an avid reader, going through at least 2 novels a week and spending much of my spare time reading various articles and stories online. I prefer science-fiction, fantasy, and any general fiction with a good amount of action, although I am leaning more towards horror nowadays. I literally have too many favorite authors to name, but the ones that seem appropriate to name on this kind of website are Jim Butcher (Dresden Files and Codex Alera series, Lawrence Watt-Evans (The Annals of the Chosen trilogy), and F. Paul Wilson (Repairman Jack series). My main interest is video games, and, boy, have I got a lot to say. I am passionate about video games, an absolute addict to its electronic embrace. They are a world unlike ours, where the impossible is possible, where possibilities are ever-expanding. Video games are a medium which I feel is perfectly respectable and utterly fascinating, and I will dare anyone to argue otherwise. Because I have a lot to say about video games, I'll stick that in another section, okay? My interests, outside of video games, tend to shift rapidly and vary frequently in their intensity. I like to learn and inquire about things, but I do not spend the time and dedication to learn them completely; I am one of the best people to ask to find random information but I am the worst person to ask for reliable recall of information. However, I do have two major areas where I tend to be more or less centralized around, and that tends to be philosophical arguments about religion and taboo subject matters. The concept of what is truth always astounds me, and each religion (and related belief systems like atheism and agnosticism) seems to tout itself as the absolute truth, so the arguments between proponents of each belief system tend to be intense and passionate. Taboo subject matters fascinate me because no one seems to talk about them or even want to acknowledge them. I turn to the internet and look, and it is like uncovering some cool little gem every time I dig up something I never knew before. Snuff pornography, torture methods, and serial killer justifications – you name a taboo and I’ll be happy to look it up. Then I'll tell you about it in all its juicy detail and torment you with it for years to come. Not everything with me is so grim, however. I also practice what I like to call the “appreciation approach” to life. What do I mean by that? I mean that I will consciously look for one thing that makes me appreciate living every day. This could be a beautiful blue sky, an entertaining yet provoking thought, an enticing dream, or even the deliciousness of a burger. I do this because I think life is too short, that work is pointless unless it is a means to happiness. In other words, try to experience everything with all your senses, and appreciate one thing (or several things) you have acquired simply by living your life.
