Ownership

The Vancouver Canucks have a long and complicated ownership history. The Canucks were originally owned by Tom Scallen's Medicor group but in 1974 the team was sold to Frank Griffiths. Frank eventually sold the majority of the Canucks to the American billionaire John Mcaw, Jr. On November 17, 2004, the Anmoli Investment Group bought a 50% share in the team from John McCaw, Jr. The other half of the team was then sold to Francesco Aquilini. Finally, on January 29, 2008 the company responsible for operating the Vancouver Canucks and Rogers Arena changed its name from Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment to Canucks Sports and Entertaiment.

Home Arena

Rogers Arena which was formally known as General Motors Place and nicknamed the Garage is the current home to the Vancouver Canucks. It is an indoor sports arena located at 800 Griffiths Way in downtown Vancouver. It was open in 1995 and first named General Motors Place because General Motors Canada owned naming rights and sponsorship. The name was then switched to Rogers Arena when a new agreement was reached with Rogers Communications for sponsorship. The stadium seats 18,860 fans for each Canucks game and was also the venue for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
