Trevor Linden
Trevor Linden is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who spent 19 seasons in the NHL from 1988 to 2008. Linden was the captain of the Vancouver Canucks when he was just 21 and was one of the youngest captains in league history. Linden was a respected leader on and off the ice throughout his whole career. Linden almost led the team to the Stanley Cup in 1994. Four years later he was named the president of the National Hockey League Players Association and remained in that position for a 8 year time period.
Henrik Sedin
Henrik Sedin is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is the current captain of the Vancouver Canucks. His identical twin brother Daniel also plays for the Canucks and is the assistant captain of the team. The two brothers have played together throughout their career and are well known throughout the league as two of the most gifted players. Henrik is a skilled passer and is known as a playmaker. Henrik and Daniel entered the NHL draft in 1999. They thought they were going to be selected by different teams but the Canucks' general manager at the time was able to obtain the second and third overall picks and used them to select both the twins to the Vancouver Canucks. This turned out to be one of the smartest moves by a general manager in league history.
Pavel Bure
Pavel Bure is a retired Russian professional ice hockey player. He was nicknamed "The Russian Rocket" due to his skating speed during in his career in the NHL. He was picked 113th overall in the 1989 NHL entry draft by the Vancouver and helped lead the Canucks to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1994. After seven seasons with the Canucks, Bure was traded to the Florida Panthers. With his new team he won two Rocket Richard Trophies which is the award given to the top goal scorer in the NHL.
Daniel Sedin
Daniel Sedin, the brother of Henrik is also a current professional ice hockey player and star on the Vancouver Canucks. Daniel is known as the goal scorer between the two brothers and in 2011 he won the Art Ross trophy for being the highest scorer in the NHL during the regular season. Daniel was selected second overall by the Canucks in the 1999 and like his twin brother has spent his entire NHL career in Vancouver. He became a top player for the Canucks during the 2005-2006 season. Since then he has had six consecutive seasons where he has scored at least 20 goals and recorded 70 points. In 2011, he also won the Ted Lindsey award for being the best player in the league. Sweden has awarded these brothers the Victoria Stipendium for being the country's athletes of the year.
Markus Naslund
Markus Naslund is the Swedish ice hockey general manager for Modo hockey and a retired professional player who played in the NHL for the Vancouver Canucks along with a handful of other teams. He was nicknamed Nazzy by his beloved fans and was well known all around the league for his offensive skills. During the Canucks 2000-2001 training camp Naslund was named captain of the team. The Canucks' return to the playoffs marked a turning point in the team's success. In 1998 after undergoing a rebuilding period, with the help of Naslund and other top Canucks which included Bertuzzi, Brendan Morrison, Ed Jovanovski and Mattias Ohlund the team became one of the most respected competitors in the NHL.
