Professor Dr. Saif Zahir received his M.S. (1984), and PhD (1994) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Pittsburgh respectively.

He is presently a Full Professor with the computer science program at the University of Northern British Columbia. Dr. Zahir is involved in research in the areas of image processing, forensic computing, covort communications, graphics, and multimedia. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 journal and conference articles, two books and four book chapters.

Dr. Zahir has served as General Chair for three international Conferences and has served on numerous Technical Program Committees for many International Conferences including IEEE-ACIS,2012-2015, IEEE-ICCE International Conference on Consumer Electronics, VISAPP 2013-2015, International Conference on Computers, Graphics, and Imaging (CGIM) ­ IASTED, and International Conference on Signals and Image Processing SIP ­IASTED, and chaired numerous technical sessions in International Conferences.

Dr. Zahir's main research areas of interest include image compression, digital forensic computing, image retrieval and indexing, steganography and watermarking, real time MPEG-2 video compression, real time multimedia communications, audio/speech coding, corporate governance, and ethics.

Saif Zahir is the editor - in - cheif of the International Journal on Corporate Governance and the editor - in cheif of the Signal Processing: International Journal.
