Bar patrons look out large windows
To a small house across the street.
Three native men sitting on a porch
Drinking out of a case of beer at their feet.
Little children run in and out of the house
And around the yard
Occasionally stopping to rest
Sitting on the men's laps
With their small arms around their fathers' necks.
A woman comes out of the house
Brings the men plates of food
The children chase their dog around the swing set.

In the fancy bar
A woman in a pale ivory suit sways slightly
As she leaves with a man not her husband.
A couple in matching dark suits
Argues much too loudly.
A man in golf clothes lurches to his feet
Sending glasses and bottles crashing to the floor.

One high class drunk
Looking out the window
Complains to his red-nose companion,
"Look at those Indians.
Drinking in public.
That's disgusting."
