Pennington's
Dance / Russell... 24
"Well Nora, do you have time for a cup of tea?" asked Mr. Pennington politely, his glasses once again sliding down his nose, one hand clutching the flowers causing the stems to weaken. With the flowers falling over his knuckles Penning scrunched the hanky in his other hand.
"Well Mr. Pennington. Another time would be better for me." Said Nora, not willing to be taken in by the old man and her granddaughter.
"What on earth would Julia say, if she heard about his visit?" Thought Nora. "I'd never hear the end of it, not till my dying day, or hers, whichever came first."
"Mrs.
Flemming, I'm a lonely man and you are a decent woman. We've known each
other for over 30 years now. It wouldn't be a bad thing if we could sit
down and have a cup of tea with each other. May I please come in?"
