Pennington's Dance / Russell... 18

"Don't answer the door Carly."
"We have to answer the door Nana, I think he saw me at the window and he isn't going away."
"Well there's been no knock, so you must be mistaken."
"No. Nana. I'm not mistaken. He came up our walk and he's come to see you. You know he fancies you Nana. Should I leave the two of you alone? Go to Melissa's?"
"Don't be ridiculous Carly and don't you be going anywhere. I never gave him reason to fancy me or think I would accept any offer he might have. We'll not answer the door Carly. I won't have him in my house. The dirty thing. Sure there's still been no knock. Now whist will ya and maybe he'll think we're not home. He's probably got the wrong house. Now be still Carly…." Nora was saying, just as the sound of three loud knocks came down the passageway.
