Yosser Hughes in Boys From The Blackstuff

In Boys From The Blackstuff, Hill played the manic, headbutting character of Yosser Hughes.  He is as well-known for this role as he is of Theoden in the UK.

Hill, who, like Yosser, is also from northern England tapped into that character and owned the role.  He was as menacing and as fierce as Yosser was in the book, showing no mercy, portraying a man who had lost everything -- his wife, his kids, his job, his mind.

Unfortunately, Hill does not talk about the character of Yosser Hughes in interviews because of how well he understood poor Yosser.
