The Falkirk Wheel |
My greatest piece of advice to any travellers is to impart what I learned from my trip to Falkirk, specifically the Falkirk Wheel. What I learned most importantly is that if you try to plan everything too carefully, you will inevitably be disappointed with the outcome. If, however, you set out with an open mind, ready for whatever fate has in store for you, you will have a much more enjoyable time. This is where we come to the story. We came to Falkirk, planning to do all sorts of stuff. However, we did not anticipate a Boat Show. ALWAYS anticipate the boat show (at least proverbially). Because of the boat show, we waited in line for four hours to get on the Falkirk Wheel. Granted, it was an amazing piece of machinery, but this delay prevented us from being able to explore the roman ruins and we got to Callendar House just as it was closing. We were disappointed because we wanted to do it all. If we had left our plans flexible, we would have been much better off. |
