Europe Europe is one of the world's seven continents, located next to Asian and Africa. It is the second smallest continent by surface area, but is the third most populous continent. Europe's geology is greatly varied, from the tall mountain peeks of Switzerland to the rolling hills of Ireland. Europe's economy is currently the largest in the world. It is also the largest single economic area in the world (EU Union). Twenty-seven European states are included. Currently, sixteen European countries use the "euro" as currency.
