Orthic Melanic BrunisolThese are the Brunisols that have Ah horizon and relatively rich in exchangeable cations. They usually have forest mull Ah and often associated with earthworms. They are found in mainly in St. Lawrence Lowlands of eastern Canada. These soils are developed mainly on calcareous parent materials. Selected properties:They have1. Ah or Ap horizon of 10 cm or more with color value less than 4. 2. pH of 5.5 (0.01M CaCl2) in most part of the B horizon. 3. Bm horizon of at least 5 cm. 4. no Ae or Aej at least 2 cm thick 5. no evidence of gleying Common horizon sequence: Ah, Bm, C or Ck |
