Corb Lund |
||
Corb Lund has a long music career ahead of him, and one stretching behind. He started in life as he continues it, with a love of farming and the cowboy lifestyle. Born and raised in Taber, Alberta on his family's farms and ranches, Corb developed a love of music and eventually went to the Grant McEwan College in Edmonton to study jazz and bass guitar. He later founded a punk band known as The Smalls, who he toured with worldwide and enjoyed moderate popularity, selling about 35,000 albums in twelve years. That band dissolved in 1991, and he moved to the States to pursue his musical career. After living in Austin, Texas for a while, he and the band received some supportive feedback and moved to Nashville to continue with country music. To make a long story short in that aspect, it worked. Corb's songwriting style focusing on stortyelling and the Albertans' eclectic, twangy sound have propelled them to international acclaim, and have certainly cemented their spot as a Canadian triumph.

Grant (Demon) Siemens |
Kurt Ciesla |
Brady Valgardson |
Grant is the only member of the band not originally from Alberta. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Grant makes up for this slight discrepancy with his uncanny ability to play just about anything with strings (acoustic or electric guitar, lap steel dobro, banjo and most other stringed instruments with the exception of the fiddle).

Kurt is from Lethbridge, Alberta, and occupies the very important role of standup bassist for the Albertans. He has training in both jazz and classical styles, allowing for the diversity of sound and genre listeners are treated to in the band's creations.

The Hurtin’ Albertans are completed by farmer/drummer Brady who, like Lund, is from Taber, Alberta. Brady grew up just minutes from Corb as a child, and still spends his time when not on the road or recording at home, farming. He comes from a whole family of farmer/drummers, with his sister, mother, and father all sharing the talent.
