Important: The following student-friendly algorithm will be used to compute the final grade for this course:

Part I
1) The worst of the three quiz marks will be discarded. Each of the remaining two quiz marks will be stretched to out of 7.5% (so that the total of 15% for the quizzes is preserved).
2) The worst of the three midterm marks will be discarded. Each of the remaining two midterm marks will be stretched to out of 22.5% (so that the total of 45% for the midterms is preserved).
3) The final exam remains out of 40%.

Part II
1) The worst of the three quiz marks will be discarded. The 5% for this mark will be added to the final exam percentage.
2) The worst of the three midterm marks will be discarded. The 15% for this mark will be added to the final exam percentage.
3) The final exam is out of 5%+15%+40%=60%.

Part III
Your final grade will be the better of the two grades obtained in the first two parts.

Students who did not write either one quiz or one midterm (or one quiz and one midterm) received zero on the corresponding test(s), so their worst mark(s) is (are) 0 and they fit into this grading scheme.

Students who do not like the above scheme will be evaluated by the original scheme:-)

Students who do not fit into the above scheme (missed more than a quiz and a midterm) should contact me.
