The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) data: The SST data is in SST.txt, which is an ascii file. The data of each month starts with a line of 2 numbers: the year and the month. Then the monthly data (4 degree longitude by 4 degree latitude, 210 numbers/month) are written 10 numbers a line; the first number is for the grid (lon=152, lat=-12), the second number is for the grid (lon=156, lat=-12), ..., the last number is for the grid (lon=268, lat=12). Time: Jan 1950 to Dec 1998 longitude: 152 156 160 164 168 172 176 180 184 188 192 196 200 204 208 212 216 220 224 228 232 236 240 244 248 252 256 260 264 268 Latitude: -12 -8 -4 0 4 8 12 The Sea Level Pressure (SLP) data: The SLP data is in SLP.txt, which is an ascii file. The data of each month starts with a line of 2 numbers: the year and the month. Then the monthly data (10 degree longitude by 4 degree latitude, 84 numbers/month) are written 10 numbers a line; the first number is for the grid (lon=155, lat=-12), the second number is for the grid (lon=165, lat=-12), ..., the last number is for the grid (lon=268, lat=12). Time: Jan 1950 to Dec 1998 longitude: 155 165 175 185 195 205 215 225 235 245 255 265 Latitude: -12 -8 -4 0 4 8 12 Both the SST and SLP data contain the climatological cycle and may contain long-term trends.
