Lupic's life
There is not much information on the life of Ivan Lupic. He was born in 1856 and it is unknown when he died. Lupic was a retired Naval engineer who served in the Austro-Hungarian navy. He constructed the first self-propelled torpedo prototypes in the city of Rijeka, Croatia in 1860. In 1864, Lupic made a contract with Robert Whitehead, a English enterpreneur to create the perfect torpedo. This occurred on December 21, 1866. It was called Minenschiff, the first self propelled torpedo.
There is not much more about Lupic, for after this invention he was secluded and became ill, the exact time of his death is unknown.
