Pulling the Heavy Load together

Sometimes when I get discouraged…. I think about my "passion" and "why I do what I do". I think about "who and what I love and believe in" as to why I am doing this work and….I think about a pair of work horses who are so focused on pulling a heavy load together. For me, that pair of work horses were my Grandma and Grandpa. Both had really tough jobs because my Grandma was the Holy Woman for her People while my Grandpa was the Holy Man for his. My Grandma and my Grandpa would always pull the real heavy loads together. Grandpa was physically bigger and stronger than Grandma so when Grandma became physically exhausted, you would see my Grandpa pull on the harness a little harder while Grandma could rest a bit. Then, when my Grandpa wore out, Grandma would kick in and take over the hard pull. Grandma was all "heart" and "soul" and her determination would inspire my Grandpa. Inspired, my Grandpa would catch his second wind and they would finish off that long heavy pull together. It would be so awesome to see them working together and that is what our work is all about. We are pulling some really heavy loads and… Some days, it is a really tough pull but that is when we kick in with our "heart" and "soul" and…. we would not give up "who and what we love and believe in, for the world"…. Our heavy loads are our honour, our worth, our strength, our identity, our love, our sacred teachings,… that we are bring back to our People.
