My name is Kara Biles, and I guess you could call me
an artist. I am eighteen years old, and I graduated from
P.G.S.S. June, 2003. I enjoy drawing, painting, body modification,
and anything to do with music. After high school, I will
be attending the College of New Caledonia to pursue a
degree in Marketing and Management Studies. My goal is
to open my own business. I'm not sure what it will be
yet...maybe something to do with art, so I can let my
imagination wander???
I do know that I will always paint and draw in my spare
time since I enjoy it immensely.
I began to take art classes at an early age, and I have
studied many areas, from Visual Arts to Photography.
In April 2002, I attended an art and culture forum where
I gained knowledge of new various techniques I could apply
to my artwork. My family is also very into painting, drawing,
building and doing crafty types of things, so I am encouraged
to do art just by being around them. I think that my love
of music has influenced my artwork. Music and art both
dig deep into your soul and make use of your imagination.
I play music in the background to inspire my drawings.
It calms me down and allows me to think about whatever
I need to do. It puts me into a state of concentration
so intense and so deep that I block out all surrounding
disturbances and enter into a zombie- like state. I get
so into my work that I can't even eat or see anything
around me except my piece of artwork. To me that is the
greatest sensation in the world.
