Shattered Tree
by Chris Mikulasik

Pitch torn from a tree
causing it to fall to pieces
under my piercing view
it completely collapsed
No longer bonded together
a moment of sympathy
and a solitary tear
with an internal smile
that everyone glimpsed
of teeth and pearls
In this act I won
damage the third time done
following human nature
Pitch upon my hand
as a blood stain on my skin
my eyes sparkled
as the tree fell
no longer standing
in the presence of man
