spacerI

snow:
ambient, white noise,
interference, decomposition of all display,
faltering signal of the world wall,
vandalized visibility,
bright scattered oblivion,
perpetual motion
restless static ...

upon exiting, we enter;
snow, the given, condition of exteriority
assimilates us,

shows us, shortsighted, in pointillist perspective,
the depth it absorbs

persistence amounts to permanence

an evenness overlays bare outlines of former things,
an inexorable, incremental volume,
formal, fair in its forgetfulness

it settles things,
reconciles all disagreeables,
buries disputes

  spacerII

the smug slants of our suburban roofs
are rounded, padded, inflated into mushroom caps,
MGM's munchkin land,
the houses themselves lose stature,
windows stoop to doors

our angular props,
self-important struts and supports,
hold, hide strain

but some day our poor perpendicularity,
our T-squared Reason,
may fail, fall short of the mark, high water,
flood of the frozen,

surmounted by the continuous mild contour,
overlooked in the long reshapings of wind work
