small, no matter what age, no matter how cute or otherwise, to touch us. We knew we were invincible because we, the sisterhood, secretly sported the "Flea Proof" tattoo.
One thing the sisterhood hadn't counted on getting though, was their first lesson in boy/girl relationship dynamics. Little did we know that no 9-year-old boy was going to be outdone by a group of dumb girls. By the second day of the epidemic, every Grade 4 boy was strutting around the playground with a big "F.P." written in ink, in capital letters, on his scrawny bicep. One boy even had the audacity to add a skull and cross-bones to his "F.P." In a rare flash of 9-year-old male brilliance, the boys had decided that they had to inoculate themselves against "girl fleas."
The sisterhood was shaken. We had to re-group and re-think our strategy. Tougher measures were needed. The simple "F.P." clearly was no longer good enough.
