Ello =) You appear to have clicked on the "let's read about Edward" link. Cool =) Well, my name is Edward Jovan Quinlan and I'm a 20 year old student studying at UBC, pursuing a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Engineering Physics, Electrical Option. Sounds a lot more spiffy and intimidating than it really is though =) I graduated May 2004 from North High School in Phoenix, AZ after attending the school for two years, which came after a move my mom and I made the summer after grade 10 (I went to University Hill Secondary School, more affectionately known as U-Hill for grades 8 through 10). While at North I also attained my International Baccalaureate Diploma after going through the two year program. For a more up to date version of what's going on in my life I'd check out my blog (currently down). I used to swim competitively and did so for 13.5 years, quitting January 8th, 2005. When I was in Phoenix I swam for Brophy East Swim Team (BEST), formerly the Phoenix Swim Club (PSC). Once I got back to Vancouver I swam with my old club, PDSA (Pacific Dolphins Swim Club), also known as UBCD (UBC Dolphins). After a brief stint in master's swimming, I quit that, picked up water polo and started doing that occasionally, and have been doing so for the past year and a half, off and on. More recently (it's mid-November 2006), I've begun training for triathlons, and look forward to doing an Ironman next summer! I lifeguard at the UBC pool (I'm a lifeguard with my NLS Pool Option, as well as Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC), and I also have my Water Safety Instructor (WSI) for teaching). Last summer I didn't compete in any lifeguard comps, which is rather disappointing =( I look forward to doing more next summer though! I have a huge array of interests, ranging from literature, to music of all sorts ranging from trance to jazz to classical, the outdoors, camping, mountain biking, outdoor activies in general, science and the arts. The main focuses in my life right now are academics (obviously), as well as working with the UBC space elevator team Snowstar. I consider myself a traceur (traceur = a practitioner of le parkour), and exercise definitely helps keep me sane. I love to tinker with computers, and a hobby I'd like to get into (but don't have time for =b) is Warhammer 40k. On the computers aspect, I'm interested in a variety of things, including both hardware and software. Sometime soon I hope to get a cheap desktop and run an OpenBSD server off of it in order to learn UNIX as I greatly enjoyed my stint with Linux earlier on in first year =) I think that about covers it! Any more questions? Feel free to please drop me a line as I'm a very talkative person and love meeting new people from around the world =) br>
