Support Systems !!!

The following support systems are currently in place and are paid for by UNBC's students:

Learning Skills Centre: Academic advising for the Business Program:
  • The learning skills centre is one of the reasons I decided to attend UNBC. In other universities it is common for students to pay tutors as much as $25.00/hour for help. At UNBC tutors are free. Although, I am a high performing student, I take advantage of the free services of experienced students 1-2 years my senior. I might think I already have all the answers but am surprised to find advice from learning skills tutors that I had not thought of myself. Most of the help I have received is with prerequisite courses in Math and English. However, some tutoring in business is available. I strongly suggest taking advantage of this service as it will help boost your grades.

  • The academic advisor has been important in planning my schedule of courses. Lorraine Prafke has set up a schedule which makes it easier for me to register ahead of time. Her schedule has made my goal of graduation more real and tells me how much time and effort I need to be able to graduate. She will become even more important as upper division courses are not necessarily held every year and class sizes are small and class waits are long. Lorraine has a sharp memory for detail and always seems to remember where I am in the scheme of things and what courses I will most likely need to take in following semesters. I strongly suggest meeting with Lorraine as her advice and support makes course planning a synch.
