PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY II

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION

 

Welcome to Chemistry 300.  This is a course at the third year level on physical chemistry.  The pre-requisite is second year physical chemistry.  The course is intended primarily for Chemistry majors, but may also be of interest to students in physical and environmental sciences.   This course focuses on chemical kinetics .  In this course, you will consolidating some concepts previously encountered.

 

TEXTBOOKS

 

There is one textbook required for this course:

 

Physical Chemistry, First Edition by John S. Winn

 

Copies are available from the library for a one semester loan period.

 

There are a number of textbooks on physical chemistry available through the library.  Material not in the textbook may be assigned.

 

LECTURES

 

There is one lecture section for this course held MWF 10:30-11:20 am.  On MW, the lectures are in Room 5-159 and on F in Room 5-172.  There is one tutorial section held M 3:30-4:20 pm in 5-159.  Attendance at tutorial is mandatory.  This will be reviewed after the first term test.

TERM TESTS AND PROBLEM SETS

 

There will be several problem sets and two midterms in this course.


MARKS

 

The mark in this course will be assigned as follows:

 

Problem Sets                        30%

Two Term Tests        15% each

Final Exam                 40%

 

Total                            100%
