Neopets


I have chosen to do my online presntation on the website known as Neopets. I have been playing neopets for some time. Many people think it is a site designed only for children - this is not the case. I would surmise that at least 1/3 of all neopet players are 20 years or older. It has a lot to offer all ages of people, in a secure environment on the web free of pop-up ads and spyware, and it is well-monitored by moderators who ensure that stalkers and harrassers are eradicated (especially since children do frequent this site). I think it is a good way for kids ot learn about taking care of a pet, and also a place for us apartment dwelling pet-starved students to have access to something that at least resembles a pet. So this is what you would do to set up an account at Neopets:

• Make a username and password at the Login page.
  
  
• Create a neopet - you can choose one of 54 species of neopet, and choose one of four colors for it. Then you give it a unique name.
  
  
• You may then Explore the world the neopets live in. It is called Neopia, and it is made up of many themed 'worlds' or countries. Exploring these areas allows your pet to gain experience and items you can later use.
  
  
• You need to keep your neopet happy and healthy. You must feed it and play with it, and sometimes they will get sick and you must diagnose them and get them care. You can also teach it different skills.
  
  
• You can do lots more with your pet - you can train it to make it stronger, faster, or smarter. You can battle with other neopets in the Battledome if you wish. There are also a wide variety of flash-type games and puzzles - a great place to be when bored or procrastinating from studying. You may also do other thigs when you get more establish as a neopian - such as opening a shop to sell items, playing the neopian stock market, getting rare or expensize items from other players, or collecting avatars.
