Passing

Passing, or bumping, is one of the most important skills of volleyball. It is the first step, usually, in the offensive attack of "bump, set, spike." Like setting, anyone can bump the ball. The setter sometimes has to bump pass a ball to the attacker if the ball is too low to the ground, which might result in the attacker having to bump the ball over instead of spiking it.

The libero, mentioned in other pages, is usually the best on the team at passing which is why they are the strongest defensive players usually.

A "dig" involves a player diving (sliding) on the floor and somehow getting under the ball and not letting it hit the ground. Digging usually occurs when on the defense and the offense spikes a ball at you and it is very tricky to get the ball.
