When does work start/end?
We start as soon as the ground is ready. Last year we were planting by the last week of April, the year before it was the first week of May. Celtic has lots of early trees so we start as soon as we possibly can.We finish when all the contracts are done. Last year it was August first, the year before we planted well into August. The season is long. I've never counted exactly how many planting days I've got in over a season with Celtic, but my guess would be about 60-70. We're looking at about 60 days for the 2004 spring and summer season.
There's usually more planting starting sometime in September on Vancouver Island. This contract is fairly small and usually reserved for vets who have been with the company for a while and worked on the coast before, but if you are a good planter with a good attitude you have a chance of getting on after one full spring and summer season with the company.
