treetops in the mist

Organization

Camp and work is well organized. Refers arrive on time, half days are kept to a very minimum, vehicles always work, and any problems are addressed right away. The foremen and supervisors are all very aware of the adverse effects of unwanted downtime or piss-around-half-days; we avoid these things at (almost) all costs. The show is always run professionally, as Celtic expects a lot from people with responsibilities, including foremen, drivers, first-aid attendants, and cooks.

As a company, Celtic is fairly large. Over 200 planters work in up to 5 different camps at any one time. With the many contracts that Celtic lines up each season, there is always lots of work to keep every planter working for a long season. I'm expecting 60 planting days this season.

A quick note about vehicles this season: Celtic will no longer be using the 15 person van (shown in picture below). Instead, my crew will have a 9 person Ford Expedition and a F350 crew cab for myself and 5 planters. No planting van is a good thing if you ask me; I never liked them much.
