Katey Sasges CURA Research Assistant - Improved PartnershipsUNBC, Geography Student Supervisor: Dr. Gail Fondahl
|
Katey Sasges, an UNBC student
who just graduated this May, worked on the CURA project this past winter.
The intent of her project was to provide material for updating Tl'azt'en's
Research Protocol "Tl'azt'en Guidelines for Research in Tl'azt'en
Traditional Territory". This protocol was written in the mid-1990s,
and since that time, many other First Nations have created such protocols.
Katey gathered copies of newer protocols and identified their key elements,
some of which are not part of the Tl'azt'en protocol. This information
will be used to make suggestions on how Tl'azt'en Nation might want
to consider revising its protocol to ensure that all research on Tl'azt'en
territory contributes to the Nation's development while protecting its
interests.
