LF (27 to 25 cm) Litter of poorly decomposed needles and moss 

H (25 to 0 cm) Black (N 2/m) well decomposed organic material; plentiful roots; abrupt smooth boundary 

Ae (0 to 8 cm) Reddish gray (5YR 5/2 - 3.5/1 m); loamy sand; amorphous; weakly cemented; few roots; abrupt smooth boundary 

Bhc1 (8 to 15 cm) Black (5YR 2/1 m); loamy sand; weak, fine granular; weakly cemented; few roots; abrupt smooth boundary 

Bhc2 (15 to 23 cm) Very dusky red (1.5YR 2/2 m); loamy sand; amorphous; very weakly cemented; no roots; abrupt smooth boundary 

Bh (23 to 30 cm) Dark reddish brown (5YR 4/5 to 7.5YR 4/3 m); loamy sand; amorphous; friable, firm; abrupt smooth boundary
