Text:
Calculus, Multivariable Early Transcedentals, 7th
Edition. J. Stewart, Brooks/Cole. Student's Solutions Manual
(optional). My notes will be
available online. A hard copy of the entire set of notes can be
purchased from the copy store (the price is just the price of
copying).
Prerequisite:
MATH 101
Course Content:
We will cover roughly the material in Chapters 12-16 of
Stewart's book.
Grading Scheme:
There will be assignments (~ weekly) worth 15%, two mid-terms (Friday,
Oct.
7; Wednesday, Nov. 9)
worth 20% each and a final exam worth 45%. I reserve the right
to change this marking scheme (although if changes are
made your grade will be calculated using the original scheme and
the new one and you will be given the higher of the two).
Assignments: Please
include a cover sheet with your name, the course number
and the number of the assignment. Summarize your answers on the first page
(show your working on the subsequent pages). Write on only one side of the paper and
staple all pages together. You will generally have about a
week to complete the assignment. The homework assignments
and suggested problems are posted at the course web site.
The due date of each assignment will be posted at the
website as the course progresses. The homework assignments
are due in class, not later than the end of the class on the
due date. No late assignments will be accepted for
marking. Solutions and answers will be posted immediately
after the due date of the assignment at the course web page.
