BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Beaumont received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1993. She started on faculty at UNBC in July 1994 and is currently an full Professor in the Department of Psychology. Her teaching expertise is in the areas of developmental psychology and positive psychology. She has held grants, published, and supervised many graduate students in the areas of parent-adolescent communication, lifespan development, self-identity, and well-being. Most recently, her research has investigated the role of self-identity for character development (e.g., wisdom), spirituality, life meaning, and well-being. As an artist and art-therapist-in-training, Dr. Beaumont is also interested in the well-being benefits of self-expression using visual imagery.
