Biography

Baljeet Malhotra is a Senior Research Scientist with SAP Research and Innovation, Singapore. Prior to that, he was a research fellow with the Centre for Maritime Studies at the National University of Singapore, a Computational Scientist in the Earth Observation Systems Laboratory at the University of Alberta, Canada, and a Senior Software Engineer at Satyam Computer Services Ltd., Hyderabad, India, during 1999 and 2002.

Baljeet received the BTech degree in computer science and engineering in 1999 from the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India, the MSc degree in computer science in 2005 from the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada, and the PhD degree in 2010 from the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta, Canada.

Baljeet`s research interests include data analytics for the maritime, banking and insurance industry; classification, localization, tracking, and data management in wired/wireless networks and streaming databases. Baljeet has published more than 15 research papers in international journals, conferences and workshops. He has been a regular reviewer for the top journals and conferences: Wireless Networks (2010 and 2011), Computer Networks (2010 and 2011), the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics (2008 and 2009), the International Journal of Communication Systems (2009 and 2010), GLOBECOM (2009) and ICDE (2009).

Baljeet has received several awards including Industrial R&D Fellowship, Visiting Fellowship, Doctoral Scholarship all from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), iCORE Postgraduate Scholarship , Walter H Johns Graduate Fellowship, Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship and ASI Graduate Scholarship from the Advanced System Institute of BC, Canada. He was nominated for CAGS/UMI distinguished dissertation award in 2010, and he was awarded the best Paper Presentation Award at the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India in 1998.
